This restaurant stuns! Beautiful decor and a staff hustling to keep everyone happy. I ordered Green Jackfruit Rendang for pickup - it took a bit longer than expected, but the packaging was top-notch. The dish itself is a win! Huge portion, perfect mild spice for anyone, and definitely feeds two. Fluffy rice and crispy bread round out the deliciousness. Just a heads up, it leaned a tad oily (like many rendangs do). Street parking is plentiful and downtown has multiple parking lots as well. Next time I'm definitely dining in. The atmosphere seems perfect for enjoying their full service! :)

I have always wanted to try this place as it was talked about a-lot and the reviews! Came here for my brother's birthday as it was a party of 5 which was made to 4 due to last minute changes. When we arrived we checked into the hostess 15 minutes prior to our reservation. One suggestion I would make is that the hostess couldve done a better job on her approach as she did mention she spoke to me on the phone prior to making the reservation and I do acknowledge that she mentioned to let them know asap if we were changing the seating from a 5 to a 4 person, however, I was not aware until last minute that the 5th person was not arriving. I understand communication is important but the way she approached me was in a way where it was being rubbed in my face like "yeah we spoke on the phone and i told you to let us know if the table seating will change". Moreover, we were hoping to give this dinner as a birthday surprise but she kind of blew it with asking whose birthday it was and the birthday boy slowly figured it all out. No biggie. We were seated and our server Luis was so friendly, amazing, and accommodating. He has a great sense of knowledge when it comes to choosing the best recommendations from the menu. We ordered a ton of appetizers from the sushi blue crab tacos, kale salad, calamari, and prawns which were all so delicious and fresh! On to the main course. The tiger prawn and hoisin lamb chops were soooooooo good!! Highly recommend! Food came out in a perfect timeframe and the other servers were so attentive! Although the beginning was not so much a pleasant experience, Luis did a phenomenal job in making sure we had an amazing dinner hence why I am giving this a 5 star review. That guy is very professional and I just have to give him a huge shoutout!

Great spot! I stopped by for lunch with cousins on a Friday. We got reservations online a day prior, and were seated per our reserved time. They have a good amount of vegetarian and vegan options, which is always a plus. Service was great, and the food came out pretty quickly too. Everything tasted great and we enjoyed the ambiance. This was my first time, but I'll be going back for sure! There's parking available on the street or in the parking structure just around the corner from the restaurant.

Came for a weekday lunch. University was still parkable at their opening time and there's a parking structure right at the back. There were a line at the door and clearly they were all booked for the lunch slot already. That's a good sign and I was glad to have a reservation. Companion ordered clay pot cod, I beef tealeaf rolls, and we shared a green papaya salad. Salad came promptly and it was sprinkled with deep-fried beef tips. Papaya was shredded, not sliced and wonderfully dressed. The beef tips were sweetened, a bit chewy, and delicious. Clay pot cod looked great! The tealeaf rolls wer supposed to be an appetizer. It came with three relatively small rolls and they were on the bland side -- designed to be dipped with the sweet-n-sour sauce which was too sweet for me. The decor was elegant, services prompt and attentive just enough. Overall, I had a great meal and wouldn't mind coming back again for entrées

Came to Tamarine for the first time on a Friday evening. The restaurant decor is very nice. Initially, the staff was very attentive and what you would expect for a restaurant at their price point. After the food was delivered, I'm not sure we were visited by our waiter again until we were ready to leave. I started with a coconut mojito. It was good, but the alcohol was nearly undetectable. If priced less, I would recommend a mocktail or glass of wine or beer so there's no question of strength. Three appetizers were ordered and came out relatively fast: Roti, tuna, and calamari. The roti was fresh and chewy. The curry sauce was a little thin but tasty. The calamari was fresh as it had no fishy odor, and the tuna looked very fresh, but I did not partake, so I can't review it. The entrees were all quite delicious. Everything tasted very fresh, and the textures were as they should be. The presentation was nice, and the colors were vibrant. The desserts were excellent. The Pandan Basque Cheesecake was so flavorful, and it was the perfect texture. The banana beignets were also very good but had just a touch of too much moisture by the batter on the inside. Overall, everyone enjoyed the food and were pleasantly surprised. We will definitely return.

My mom and I visited on a Sunday evening for dinner with no reservation, and we were able to get seated at the island/bar indoor seating immediately. Located on a side street downtown, it was easy for parking as there was a parking garage nearby. We ordered the green papaya salad, clay pot cod, and yellow chicken curry. Our favorite was the cod -- it was so soft and flavorful, and paired well with the jasmine rice. The yellow chicken curry was also amazing -- perfectly creamy and the chicken was so tender. We didn't have any complaints at all! We were so happy with our dinner and will definitely visit again!

Came back for another lunch fix and this place doesn't disappoint. Got seated right away, however, the hostess isn't super friendly and seems annoyed. Started off with the salt and pepper calamari and it was a winner... the dipping sauce is super nice as well, a little spicy and tangy. Also had the Tiger Prawns with garlic noodles, sea bass, garlic fried rice, shaking beef, and the cauliflower. All was so goof, minus the cauliflower which had a sauce that was a little weird, but it didn't damper the other dishes and how good they were. Service was prompt even though it was packed during lunch. It does seem like they push most people to the back area which makes the ambiance a little cramped, but no big deal. Perhaps if you make a reservation they put you. In the front.

Tamarine is an exceptional venue for a date, business lunch, or dinner. They specialize in Vietnamese fusion cuisine and regularly update their menu. The blue crab rice taco was the standout dish of the night; its mouthwatering and crispy taste made for a fantastic start to the meal. From checking in to sitting down and engaging with the bartenders, every staff member was friendly and attentive to detail. I'll definitely visit again, especially since nearby parking at night is convenient!

Tamarine is a upscale Vietnamese restaurant in Palo Alto. The last time I came here, I thought all of the dishes were amazing. After this time, I think it's a bit overpriced for the quality of food, but the service is definitely on-par. FOOD [3.5/5] =========== + Empress Rice (3/5) For the price of $15, I thought this dish was too expensive. It's great sticky rice but the seasoning is weak and the egg was overcooked. + Ha Long Bay Soup (3/5) I ordered this because the reviews said this was a really good soup but unfortunately I didn't really enjoy it at all. It was way too sour for my liking and we couldn't end up finishing the dish because it was just that sour. + Banh Mi Roti (3/5) The roti was great! The dipping sauce was okay. It wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be. + Shaking Beef (4/5) Really tender beef. Was a little disappointed because even though the meat was cooked well, I thought this was a really simple dish for the price. SERVICE [5/5] =========== No complaints about service! They were very attentive, changed out our plates after every course with perfect timing, and very friendly.
